  My Thought for Today

I recently shared a community-centered idea focused on encouraging people to shop local, support small businesses in the county where we live, and create a citizen-driven initiative to begin building collective community wealth — including developing private investment capital owned and controlled by the people of this community.

Only a few people responded, and just one person expressed genuine interest in collaborating to help make it a reality.

What stood out most,  was the assumptive negative comments. I took the time to respond with clear information that addressed the misconceptions and concerns being raised. Interestingly, once those misunderstandings were corrected, the criticism quietly disappeared — yet not one person acknowledged their mistake or apologized for spreading misinformation and assumptions that may have created doubt for others.

Despite that, I remain encouraged. I truly believe there are far more good people — here in Brooks County and around the world — who care about others and want to see communities thrive. Unfortunately, the loudest voices are not always the most constructive ones.

Let’s not allow negativity or unfounded skepticism to stop meaningful progress in the world. Moving forward together requires unity, respect, empathy, and a willingness to support ideas that strengthen our communities and create real opportunity. When we work collectively toward solutions that make sense, we can build a stronger economy and a better future — not just for ourselves, but for everyone.Let's make the world a better place by spreading positivity and kindness every day.
